Summary of Design Flyer
Near the end of the Fall 2024 school semester, I designed this flyer to promote the Thanksgiving potluck social event for The Drawing Sessions Club. With the office members voting to watch Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), I wanted to blend warm seasonal colors that had visual inspirations from Wes Anderson's film style. The flyer effectively communicated the event details while setting a warm, welcoming tone for the members who were interested in attending the event.
Step 1: Empathize With Audience
For this Thanksgiving social event, the target audience focuses on enthusiastic artists and creatives regarding drawing and connecting. The goal is to encourage the UT Dallas' Drawing Session Club members to participate in a casual, fun, and engaging potluck social event with a theme focused on creativity and film.
Step 2: Define The Goal
This flyer design aims to make it visually appealing to Drawing Sessions' attendees, exciting them about a potluck social while watching Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009). I conveyed the event details to reflect the artistic spirit while producing excitement through vibrant and thematic visuals.
Step 3: Ideate The Goal (Sketch And Reference Phase)
Before sketching out my rough sketch flyer design, I looked for a reference design to draw inspiration from the film, Fantastic Mr. Fox. After finding the reference design (Left side image below), I sketched out the flyer (Right side image below) while including other elements, like the fox's pawprints.

Step 4: Reveal The Designs

Breaking Down The Flyer Design:
The orange, white, and black color scheme reflects a fox theme, as the fox's face and whiskers in the upper portion can be eye-catching for the viewers.
In the middle section, the flyer focuses on the main activity, which is encouraging Drawing Session members to attend the screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox while also enjoying some snacks, drawing, and mingling with each other.
In the bottom section, the flyer provides clear details of the event in an easy-to-read format for the viewers. Although the five flyers above are the same design, each design has different typographies that can balance readability and creativity.
