Summary of Project
This is a fictional, unique brand design Summer Olympics project I created for my Fall 2024 academic course. I wanted to capture the Olympic spirit of international unity and local pride through a visual message. For my hometown project, it had a unique Olympic logo, color palette, merchandise, and a few mockups to further showcase my comprehension of brand design.
Step 1: Empathize With Audience
Duncanville, also known as the "City of Champions," is a suburban city in Southwest Dallas County, Texas. It received the City of Champions nickname due to the city's school district winning twenty-nine state championships since 1976.
Duncanville is known for its minor involvement in World War II, having historical attractions, parks, restaurants, and annual community events. The city's attributes are excellent services, quality infrastructure, positive growth, hospitable community, housing values, and civic involvement opportunities.
Step 2: Define The Problem
Although it's a suburban city of Dallas, Duncanville isn't well-known outside of Texas and worldwide. To solve this problem, I produced a Summer Olympic Brand to increase local tourism interests by conducting in-depth research on Duncanville's historical attractions and attributes.
Step 3: Ideate The Problem (The Sketch Phase)
After conducting comprehensive research on Duncanville's historical attractions and attributes, I created rough prototype sketches, along with some representing the Lone Star State.

Brainstorming Phase Continued - Top 3 Sketches
After receiving votes from the audience based on which sketch they preferred the most, I improved three of the thirteen original Olympic brand ideas by redrawing them while incorporating more ideas.

Step 4: Reveal The Designs

Breaking Down The Olympic Brand Logo:
The panther silhouette runs across an Olympic track (The rectangle), as the silhouette fades into Olympic ribbons in the other half of its body. The lone star on the silhouette is based on Texas' nickname, The Lone Star State.
For Duncanville's color palette, the colors are red, yellow, and blue; the panther silhouette is mainly red before the color transitions into blue and yellow for the ribbons. For the Olympics' color palette, the colors are red, blue, yellow, green, and black.
For the typography font, I wanted to use a font that looks very Western, so I chose Horse Saguaro as the best one. The other font options I chose were Mutant Academy, Sablon Up, and Tango Western.
